Summer is winding down and winter is coming, which means things are winding up here at the Weinberg! Everyone at the theater is excited for the new 2017-2018 season, so we asked our staff what events they’re looking forward to the most. Read on for some insider knowledge!

I’m excited for a lot of our shows this season, but I’m ready for The MADS more than anything else! I’ve always loved Mystery Science Theater 3000 since I was a kid. Frank Conniff and Trace Beaulieu were both on the show when I was ten years old, and they capture that same movie-riffing madness so well in their show. I love not knowing what movies they are going to mock, it makes everything that much more exciting. My husband and I already have our tickets for both shows at the Weinberg, and we can’t wait!

I’m easily the most excited for Rhiannon Giddens. This will be her fourth time here, and she’s always amazing. This time around, she’ll be performing on her own, instead of as part of another act. Giddens is just an incredible musician and a powerhouse of a performer. I can’t wait.

We just announced Mark Ruffalo as part of the Frederick Speaker Series, and I think he’ll be awesome to see. I know all of my friends are excited too, so I think we’re all going to go see him together!
Ashley Birdsell Lewis | Manager of Marketing
Storm Large is our first show this season, and I couldn’t be more excited to see her. She’s just so different from what I think people are used to seeing at the Weinberg. She’s done some awesome stuff with Pink Martini and her shows are so raw and blend her cabaret style with adult humor. Her sets mix up classic songs everyone knows with some more unknown music, and she performs it all incredibly.
David Fitzwater | Box Office Assistant
That’s easy, the whole Trivoli Discovery Series! Every artist is brings something different to their show, and they’re all pretty exciting to see. All in all, you just get the most bang for your buck with the Tivoli Discovery Series shows!

The Classic Albums Live concerts are some of my favorites at the Weinberg, and I’m most excited for the Led Zeppelin II event. I grew up listening to all the Zeppelin albums, and as a bass player and a drummer, John Paul Jones and John Bonham have both been major influences for me over the years. Whether it’s Bonham’s classic “Moby Dick” drum solo or the catchy riffs in “Livin’ Lovin’ Maid,” Led Zeppelin’s second album is one of my all-time favorites. I can’t wait!
